U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart announces that, starting Monday (March 7), a masks-optional policy will take effect for students in Stuttgart community schools operated by the Department of Defense Educational Activity (DoDEA).

Garrison leaders and school officials are making this change based on an informed assessment of current conditions in the Stuttgart military community and pursuant to new DoDEA guidance allowing installation commanders to determine masking policy based on local COVID-19 transmission rates.

Please note that students will still be required to wear masks on school buses as these are operated by contracted host nation companies subject to local laws regarding transportation conveyances.

The Army continues to review the overall health protection condition which is a significant factor in protective measures that have been implemented in Child & Youth Services (CYS) and other facilities around the garrison.  We will share any information on changes in protective posture with you as it becomes available.
