By American Red Cross Stuttgart Station
Hosted by the American Red Cross Stuttgart Station, the annual Baby Expo event will take place March 1
at the Panzer Firehouse from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. This event is designed for new and expecting parents, to provide
information and resources for the early phases of parenting in Germany.
The transition to parenthood can feel overwhelming when living abroad, especially with uncertainties surrounding the birthing process and unfamiliarity with available resources. With representatives from both
military and local national organizations, attendees of the expo will be connected with everything they need, all
in one place.
The Obstetrics team at Böblingen Hospital will return this year to give an overview of hospital deliveries and the
neonatal clinic. There will also be Red Cross-certified First Aid and CPR instructors showing how to respond to
a choking child and how to perform infant CPR. There will even be representatives from the Vet Clinic giving
tips for how to introduce new babies to pets at home. Not only will there be a plethora of information and
resources, but items and services will be raffled off throughout the event. Food and beverages will also be
available for purchase.
In addition to connecting attendees with knowledge and resources, the expo is also an opportunity to meet
other new and expecting parents. Sherrie Phillips, Red Cross Community Outreach Lead and event organizer,
says, “The Baby Expo is a great place to meet and share experiences with others at the same stage of life. It
is also a great place to learn about resources and products available in the area for new and expecting parents.
Think of it as a “One Stop Shop for everything Baby!”
The expo is open, free of charge, to the entire military community and does not require pre-registration. For more information, visit the American Red Cross Stuttgart Station’s Facebook page or contact them at stuttgart@redcross.org
