Vehicle Registration office reopening; extension memorandum issued for expired registrations

USAG Stuttgart Vehicle Registration operations will reopen with a single clerk on Tuesday, September 8, at 8 a.m., following an unplanned COVID-related closure.

Priority of Service

With limited operations beginning on September 8, priority will be given to out-processing customers (PCS/ETS/Retirements) as well as new arrivals waiting to pick up a vehicle. Therefore, we ask that only those customers show up on Tuesday morning (priority below).

  1. Out-processing (PCS/ETS/Retirement)
  2. Temporary registration
  3. Temporary to Permanent Registration
  4. Renewals (temp or perm given linkage to ESSO cards termination at expiration) — some may already have been automatically extended
  5. Transfers (not PCS related)
  6. Non-operational registrations
  7. All other transactions (updating info, joint owners, etc.)

Registration extensions and ESSO cards

The U.S. Army Europe Registry of Motor Vehicles has extended registrations scheduled to expire between September 1 and 16, including associated ESSO cards.  Since new license plate stickers will not be issued, this memorandum should be carried in the vehicles of those individuals who have had their registrations extended. Note that the memo does not cover those that who registrations that expired before the September 1, and that temporary registrations are not recognized outside of Germany.

Customers who departed during the closure

Any customers who departed the area during the Vehicle Registration closure, please contact the Vehicle Registration Office via email at usarmy.stuttgart.id-europe.list.pmo-vehicle-registration@mail.mil and a member of the Vehicle Registration staff will contact you to help resolve the problem . Unit representatives and employee supervisors can/should contact if the vehicle owner is unable to do so.
