UPDATE -FRI. JAN. 22, 2:30 P.M.: Service has been restored. Any customers still encountering issues should contact TKS support.

UPDATE – FRI. JAN. 22, 9.08 A.M..:
The TKS engineers were unable to identify the source of the fault that has prevented the resumption of internet and cable service.
The engineers have expanded the scope of work and will continue to provide updates as they work through possible solutions.
TKS acknowledge that the length of this outage is unacceptable, this is the longest outage in the last 18 years, and they are pursuing every avenue to get service restored today.

UPDATE, JAN. 21, 6:30 P.M.: TKS reports that fiber repairs were completed, but there are still additional system issues preventing the reactivation of internet and cable service.
A technical specialist is currently travelling to the site to perform the necessary diagnostics to identify and repair the newest fault.  They will work through the night and hope to have service resumed by Friday morning.
While they cannot compensate for the loss of telework or education for our students, they will discuss with TKS leadership how they compensate their customers here on the installation.

TKS, which provides internet for on and off post military customers across Germany, experienced an internet and phone outage that affected all Stuttgart on-post residents.
The outage began around lunchtime, Wednesday, Jan. 20, during utilities construction off-post when the fiber optic cable that supplies the central distribution point for all TKS services across the garrison was severed.

At the time of writing, the repair was currently being undertaken and a return to service is anticipated Thursday, Jan. 21, though no specific restoration time has been provided.

The outage not only affects internet connections for on post housing, but also point of sale services at AAFES facilities.
