In a display of discipline and dedication, the Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) of the U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart was awarded the highly coveted Army Safety Excellence Streamer during a ceremony held earlier this month at the Panzer Parade Field. This accolade was presented by Col. Kirk Alexander, the garrison’s commander, in a ceremonious event held at Panzer Parade Field.
Col. Alexander proudly attached the streamer to the HHC guidon and commended the unit’s adherence to the Army’s stringent safety protocols.
“As we attach this streamer, we celebrate more than just a year without mishaps, we honor the commitment, discipline, and vigilance of every soldier in this unit,” Alexander said.
The HHC earned this honor by completing 12 consecutive months without a significant, at-fault mishap and completing 100 percent of risk management training for all assigned soldiers. The streamer is a green ribbon with two white stripes and the inscription "SAFETY EXCELLENCE" on it and symbolizes the unwavering commitment to safety and accident prevention demonstrated by the unit.
“This award demonstrates our soldiers' commitment to safety training and how they apply that training, both on and off duty,” Garrison Safety Office Director Rachael Long said.
The award allows HHC to display the Safety Excellence Streamer on their guidon for one year, after which they must requalify to retain this distinguished recognition.
HHC Commander Capt. Boluwatife Obembe expressed great pride in the recognition.
“This safety award speaks volumes about the character of this company,” Obembe said. “Their dedication to safety sets a high standard for this garrison, and I’m proud to be their commander.”

The U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart community has a new outlet for baseball games thanks to a partnership with the Stuttgart Reds, a local baseball league of both German and American players.
