Baden-Württemberg – Police in alert due to Corona protests
Mannheim/Karlsruhe/Stuttgart – After the riots at protests by opponents of the Corona measures in Reutlingen and other partly unannounced gatherings in the state, police forces in the state are on guard. But not all police headquarters in Baden-Württemberg have the capacity to scour the net for calls for assemblies.

Mannheim Police Headquarters is increasingly monitoring social media and aligning its planning accordingly. During the operation last Monday at an action of opponents of the Corona restrictions with about 2,000 participants, the personal data of 121 people were taken, of whom 50 percent each came from Mannheim and the surrounding area. 60 percent had been over 40 years old. They now face charges for violating the Assembly Act, as well as fines.  The participants had moved in small groups through the city to create the impression that it was not a meeting, which should have been registered with the city. There were no banners, no posters to be seen. There was also no rally. Only the slogan “Peace, freedom – no dictatorship” had been chanted.

Police in Villingen-Schwenningen are investigating whether last Monday’s unannounced protest by opponents of the Corona measures violated the Assembly Act. Between 150 and 200 people had gathered at the meeting, which was described as a walk, according to police. The protest was peaceful. According to police, the people had arranged via social media. Study shows: schools are not hotbeds of infection
Mask-wearing and regular testing have proven effective, a new study commissioned by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs, the risk of infection for teachers is no higher than that of the normal population. There is currently no reason for school closures – but that could change.

According to the study, the risk of students and teachers contracting Corona at home is almost four times higher than at school. Moreover, the school risk has remained constant despite the emerging delta variant, while the home risk has increased, the study found.  “Right now, there is no reason to close schools or start vacation early “Whether this will be necessary under Omikron in the context of closing all of life is impossible to say at this time. However, it is necessary to prepare for the fact that school operations will start again after the Christmas vacations with different teaching formats than in personal attendance.
