Fifth grade students at Stuttgart Elementary School performed a combination puppet and live performance, Jan. 26, to encourage others to keep reading. In the story, the students explained how book characters could disappear from our memories if we don’t continue to read the classics.

The topic and performance idea was developed by the students who wrote, produced, and performed the original play they entitled, “Saving Neverland!” under the school’s Project, Project program.

Students, Sarah Husein, Sarah Webb, Samantha Kitchin, Allyssa Shafer, and Alayla Simmons performed the show for their classmates and other younger students Stuttgart Elementary, receiving rave reviews.

Project Project is a learning opportunity where the students, not the teacher, drive the topic, direction, and message of their group project. Project Project requires the students to share the results of their work with other students at their school.
