On October 13, 1775, a resolution of the Continental Congress established what is now the United States Navy with a “swift sailing vessel and 80 men.” 245 years later, the U.S. Navy is the world’s largest Naval Force.

U.S. European Command’s Director of Logistics, Rear Adm. Duke Heinz and Intelligence Specialist 2nd Class Erica Pastrano, cut a birthday cake at Patch Barracks on Oct. 13, to honor the achievements of the U.S. Navy. The physically distanced event allowed Sailors to come together and celebrate their heritage.
