Memorial Service for Gregory H. Lewis

All are invited to attend a memorial service for Gregory H. Lewis this Saturday, August 28, 1 p.m. at the Panzer Chapel.

Greg Lewis, a father, husband, veteran, and “larger than life” member of the Stuttgart Military Community for the past 30 years recently passed June 10 after a recent diagnosis of ALS. He was 70.

Lewis was born August 16, 1950 in Brunswick, Georgia. In 1971 he enlisted into the U.S. Army, and after 22 years of honorable service, retired as a Sergeant 1st Class in 1993. He later raised his right hand again and joined the military once more, but this time as a civil servant with the Department of Defense. He would serve 20 more years before retiring from civil service in 2018. However to ensure his children graduated from DoDEA schools in Stuttgart, he continued working as a front desk manager for the Kelley and Panzer Hotels for three years until his death.

An integral part of the local community and as a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Lewis raised more than $100,000 worth of scholarships for children in the Stuttgart Military Community. Lewis believed his greatest work was being a father, mentor and friend.

He is survived by Xenia, his wife of 31 years, and two children DeShawn, a senior at Stuttgart High School and Shenoa a college student in Stuttgart.
