Protests and demonstrations are expected to occur at Schlossplatz, in the City of Stuttgart, Oct. 31, beginning in the afternoon and likely going into the evening. Personnel in the U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart Community are encouraged to be cautious and avoid the area during that time.
Keeping in mind that this will coincide with Halloween, it is also important for USAG Stuttgart community members to be aware of a strict disguise ban in the area affected by the protest. This ban is put in place by local law enforcement and has an unfortunate crossover with Halloween costume traditions. While downtown Stuttgart should be avoided, it is also important to avoid masks or other costume elements that could conceal one’s identity off-post, in Stuttgart on Oct. 31.
However, masks, disguises and costumes are highly encouraged for the activities happening on-post at USAG Stuttgart installations here is a breakdown of everything happening this spooky season.
Background information on the protests:
A nationwide series of youth-led protest actions organized under the unifying banners “Gen Z regelt” and “Gen Z steht auf” is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, with synchronized assemblies in more than 20 major metropolitan areas. The “Regional Gen Z” organization will be demonstrating for causes such as the draft, school infrastructure, and anti-austerity.
