Soldiers from the 554th Military Police Battalion, U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart’s Directorate of Emergency Services and their associates, friends and families celebrated the 85th anniversary of the MP Corps, Sept. 24 on Panzer Kaserne.
Dubbed the Order of the Cross Pistols, the traditional celebration began in 1950 and is hosted by local MP units at their home station, according to USAG Stuttgart Provost Marshal Lt. Col. Daniel Jimenez, who opened the event with remarks.
“At an Order of the Cross Pistil event, MP Soldiers and Department of the Army Civilian Police guide and show our community some of the trainings and duties of policing or combat support tasks,” he said.
Jimenez presented certificates of appreciation to host-nation Polizei officers who participated in DES’s recent National Night Out initiative. This was followed by a military working dog demonstration and the opportunity for attendees to receive hands-on training performing simulated police duties.
“The MP Corps’ regimental motto is ‘Assist, Protect, Defend,’ this motto is about selfless service” Jimenez said. “For the last 85 years the MP Corps has assisted the community, protected the community, and defended the community.”
