Street festival summer in Stuttgart - The festival at the “Bohnenviertel” is back
The people of Stuttgart have been celebrating at the Bohnenviertelfest for almost a quarter of a century now - that's how long the popular festival with its unique backdrop has been around. On Thursday, the party in the Stuttgart quarter finally started again. The historic buildings and alleys with quaint restaurants give the street festival its special charm. Until July 22, Stuttgart's residents can still slurp up Viertele (quarter of a wine glass) or enjoy beer on tap. The first evening of the Bohnenviertelfest got off to a good start in keeping with the sunny summer day. (Stuttgarter Nachrichten, July 20)
Construction sites in Stuttgart - Weinsteige impacted over summer vacations due to renovations
Drivers using the Weinsteige in Stuttgart will have to prepare for restrictions from July 24 until shortly before the end of the summer vacations at the beginning of September. The road is being repaired in the upper section, according to a spokesman for the administration. This is a deviation from the original plans, which had even provided for detours and also a few days later start of construction. In a current municipal press release it is said that the work would begin at the height of the intersection "Auf dem Haigst" and would move in sections up to Karl-Pfaff-Strasse. The B27 will remain passable in both directions. The Civil Engineering Office expects disruptions and asks those affected for their understanding. According to the city, the reason for the measure is road construction work by the civil engineering office. This involves the pavement. "This will be repaired," said the spokesman. This is so-called road maintenance work. (Stuttgarter Nachrichten, July 21)
Upcoming musical entertainment on the Sindelfingen Market place
Robbie Williams, Iron Maiden, Tina Turner, Bob Marley and U2. Five musical artists who could not be more different, however, have one thing in common: their music can all be heard this summer at the Sindelfingen marketplace. From Aug. 2 to 30, the event series "Sindelfingen rocks" will once again take place there every Wednesday. And the organizers have managed to bring a colorful mix of tribute bands to the Daimler city. The Robbie Williams tribute band "Feel" from Italy and Slovenia will kick things off. "Robbie Williams is something for all genders and generations," knows Johannes Leichtle from the organizing company Bankett Plus. "Musically for the men, visually especially for the women." After the poppy start, it continues on Aug. 9 with the Iron Maiden tribute band Iron Maidnem from Hungary. Johannes Leichtle is particularly looking forward to the heavy metal band with the slightly alienated name. "It's definitely a highlight when something like this takes place downtown." The Tina Turner Show from Austria on Aug. 16 will feature 13 musicians from Austria and is especially moving this year - after all, the Queen of Rock died in May. "The show will feature her hits from the last 50 years," says Johannes Leichtle. "It's a beautiful tribute to a great musician."
The next artist on August 23 has also passed long time ago. The Cologne tribute band "Marleys Ghost" is dedicated to the work of Bob Marley - and in full. "The singer lives his role," knows Johannes Leichtle. "It's definitely going to be something different." On Aug. 30, Sindelfingen Rock closes with Tribu2 from Vienna, whose members pay tribute to U2. "They were here before in 2016 and are musically quite outstanding," Johannes Leichtle enthuses. In addition to U2's hits, he says Tribu2 is also known for a great show, including an LED screen. The concerts will once again take place on the market square. Johannes Leichtle now has a more positive relationship with the residents, who have repeatedly complained about noise pollution in recent years. He does not want to comment on the issue in more detail. "We try to be considerate of each other by mutual agreement," he says. (Stuttgarter Nachrichten, July 21)
