C.A.R.E. Fair spotlights local services, clubs, organizations

It’s never easy settling into a new community.
That’s why if you’ve recently arrived to the Stuttgart military community, the C.A.R.E. Fair should be on your list of things to do.

The U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart Community Activities, Registration and Education Fair, set for Aug. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Panzer Shopping Mall on Panzer Kaserne, offers community members the opportunity to learn about the various programs and services available to them.

More than 60 garrison, fraternal and special interest organizations will be represented, from the Housing Office to the Stuttgart German-American Wandering Club to the Military Associated Stuttgart Home Schoolers, according to Martha Povich, the events manager for USAG Stuttgart Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation.

“The C.A.R.E. Fair offers community members the opportunity to connect with one another, our community resources and organizations, and share information. The event will help jumpstart a newcomer’s entry into the best community in all of USAREUR.  It will help them discover who makes up the fabric of what makes Stuttgart so great,” Povich said.

Visitors to the fair will be able to learn about employment and volunteer opportunities, local banking services and how to save money with the Utility Tax Avoidance Program. Other groups, such as local Boy and Girl Scout troops, Parent Teacher Associations and the Patch Ski Club, will also participate.
Newcomers may discover some needed household items at the Family and MWR-hosted flea market.

“They may be able to find many items they need to set up their homes, such as transformers and 220-volt kitchen appliances,” Povich said.
The flea market will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the terrace outside of the Exchange. Interested participants can sign up for table space online at www.stuttgartmwr.com.
