Colonel and Christine Penmark live in a small Southern town with their daughter, Rhoda. On the surface she is sweet, charming, full of old-fashioned graces, loved by her parents, admired by all her elders.  She’s the perfect child. But her mother has an uneasy feeling about her. When one of Rhoda’s schoolmates mysteriously drowns at a picnic, Mrs. Penmark is alarmed. The boy who drowned was the one who had just won an award that Rhoda felt she deserved.

To the parents of the young girls auditioning: Please read the script! This is basically a horror story and is going to be a very intense experience.  It is not a light, frothy role. The character Rhoda is basically a sociopath.

“It is solely and honestly meant to entertain … As purely purposeful diversion it ranks with Dracula and sometimes sets your spine to as much tingling … chilling.” – The New York World-Telegram
