Members of the Hofener Scillamännle Fasching guild in Stuttgart-Hofen participate in last year’s parade in Hofen. The guild was founded in 1985 and the group is named after the “Blaustern,” or scilla flower, which grows in the environmentally-protected “Scillawald” area near Hofen. The mask of the Scillamännle is made of lime-tree wood. The mask and “Häs,” or costume, is made based on the blossom and leaf colors of the scilla plant. This year’s parade in Hofen will be held Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. Photo by Carola Meusel, USAG Stuttgart.
