US Post Offices reduce number of operating days per week

Updated Jan 11:

Due to a 20 percent reduction in the overall postal operations workforce in the USAG Stuttgart Garrison, all four U.S. Army Post Offices (APO) in the footprint will only be open two days per week starting Feb. 5.

A reduction in workforce authorizations has left the garrison with only 40 personnel (previously 50) to operate all community postal operations.

The goal of the new schedule is to ensure there is at least one postal operation open every day. The new operating hours and days for APOs are; Patch Barracks: Tues. and Thurs. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Kelley Barracks: Wed. and Fri. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Panzer Kaserne: Mon. and Wed. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Robinson Barracks:  Tues. and Thurs.   1 – 3:30 p.m.

The four Community Mail Rooms (CMR) will remain open 24/7 for customers with mailboxes, and their customer windows open for parcel and general delivery pick-up from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3:30 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Robinson Barracks regular hours also remain the same, from 2:30 – 6 p.m., except on federal holidays.

Official Mail delivery to Patch Barracks will also cease Feb. 5. Patch personnel must pickup official mail at the Stuttgart Army Airfield.

More information on these changes will be in the February edition of The Stuttgart Citizen print news.

Editors Note: Corrected hours for RB APO and all CMRs.
