Lt. Gen. Michael Ferriter, commander of the U.S. Army Installation Management Command and the Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management, visited U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart June 26 during a five-day tour of Army installations in Germany.
The general, who commands the organization that manages 184 Army installations, was accompanied by IMCOM Command Sgt. Maj. Earl Rice and IMCOM-Europe Region Director Kathleen Marin.
Ferriter and Rice addressed civilian employees and Soldiers during a garrison workforce town hall meeting, discussing the impact of sequestration, sustainment challenges with reduced funding, improvements in the sponsorship and transition programs, and the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention Program.
The general, who oversees more than 100,000 employees on four continents, emphasized the importance of doing what is right.
“Doing what’s right sets us free to focus on innovation, creativity and delivering services to our families and our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines,” he said.
Both leaders discussed the value of team work in delivering services.
“Together we accomplish more, and not one of us can do it by ourselves,” Rice said.
The IMCOM commander thanked the staff for their dedicated service and professionalism and then took several questions from the audience regarding furloughs, hiring, training and SHARP.
Ferriter concluded the town hall by recognizing four USAG Stuttgart Soldiers and four employees with IMCOM commander coins.
