Housing areas on U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart will see an increased police presence on August 4, between 6 and 8 p.m., but the only thing they’re planning on handing out is candy.
USAG Stuttgart is Where Mission Meets Home, and it is with that in mind that the Directorate of Emergency Services is organizing their spin on the National Night Out campaign. Rather than having an event that focuses on the police, they’re going to the residents by spreading out to all of the housing areas on the installation to include Panzer, Patch, Kelley and Robinson Barracks.
Be on the lookout for police cruisers doing a “slow role” through the neighborhoods on August 4, and be sure to come say hello because they are brining treats with them. More important however, DES is encouraging people who live in these neighborhoods to use that evening as an opportunity to meet one another.
“It takes a community to keep the community safe,” said USAG Stuttgart Chief of Police Mark Pursel. “The goal is to encourage residents to get off shift, step outside their homes, and get to know their neighbors.”
