Closure between Sindelfingen and Böblingen A81 postponed
The expansion of the A81 Autobahn between Sindelfingen-East and Böblingen-Hulb is progressing. Further bridge sections were originally scheduled to be lifted into place during the second week of May, requiring a full closure of the Autobahn section. However, this date had to be postponed. The exact rescheduled date has not yet been determined. Only this much is certain: it will not be before mid-June. Despite the postponement, they are still on schedule. The plan is to open the “superstructure, which will carry traffic from Böblingen to Sindelfingen. Once the traffic is no longer using the temporary bridge, it can be quickly dismantled – requiring a full closure.
The progress of the Autobahn construction work in this section depends on the demolition of the temporary bridge. If the bridge is still standing, construction cannot proceed. Then, once the traffic has moved off the temporary bridge, it can be quickly dismantled – requiring a full closure. Meanwhile, work continues unabated elsewhere. After all, the construction site stretches for more than seven kilometers.
In eastern Sindelfingen, construction has begun on the noise barriers that will line 3.4 kilometers of the Autobahn, and the portals for the noise barrier cover are currently being built. The entire massive project is scheduled for completion in 2028. (Stuttgarter Nachrichten, May 7, 2026)
