A81 near Böblingen/Sindelfingen Several closures planned

Drivers should expect delays on the A81 near Böblingen/Sindelfingen next week. According to Deges, traffic will be diverted to the new concrete roadway and a newly constructed temporary roadway west of the noise barrier on the first weekend in December. Work on the northern roadway of the A81 in this area can then begin. For this reason, the following traffic restrictions will be necessary.

From Monday evening, December 8, 8 p.m., to Tuesday morning, December 9, 5 a.m., the lane in the direction of Stuttgart between the Böblingen-Sindelfingen and Böblingen-Ost junctions will be completely closed. The diversion to the Böblingen-Ost junction is signposted.  On the nights of Tuesday to Wednesday, December 10, and Wednesday to Thursday, December 11, the road towards Singen between the Sindelfingen-Ost and Böblingen/Sindelfingen junctions will be completely closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. The diversion will run from the Sindelfingen-Ost junction through Sindelfingen to the Böblingen-Hulb junction.   Only one lane in the direction of Stuttgart

In addition, one lane in the direction of Stuttgart will be closed on the nights from Tuesday to Wednesday and from Wednesday to Thursday from the Böblingen/Sindelfingen junction to the west portal of the overpass. After that, traffic will then be routed through two lanes in each direction on the A 81 again.

Advent in the Böblingen district – six special Christmas markets not everybody knows about

Last week, the Christmas market in Böblingen marked the start of the festive season – a foretaste of all that is yet to come. Even away from the well-known Christmas markets, there are romantic alternatives for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle. With their historic backdrop, rich tradition, or magical lights, they exude a very special charm.

Advent market in a former church

Surrounded by venerable stone walls, the traditional Advent market will take place on Saturday, December 6, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the former church of the idyllic Mauren estate in Ehningen. Various artists from the area will present handicrafts made of wood, paper, felt, wool, and fabric. There will also be natural cosmetics, homemade candles, schnapps, and much more. If you are still looking for a Christmas tree, you will find one here. There will also be all kinds of delicacies from the farm to eat on the spot or to go.

Date: Saturday, December 6, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Address: Barn church of the Mauren estate, Mauren 9, 71139 Ehningen

Medieval times meet Christmas magic

On December 6 and 7, the Böblingen district of Dagersheim will be celebrating two occasions: 950 years of Dagersheim and 30 years of the Christmas market. To mark this special occasion, there will be a medieval market in addition to the traditional Christmas market in the town center. Merchants, craftsmen, and encampment groups will create a historical atmosphere that perfectly harmonizes with the Christmas spirit. Jugglers, medieval dance performances, a children’s carousel, and a petting zoo with sheep make the market a very special experience.

Saturday, December 6, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. & Sunday, December 7, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Christmas market and Christmas carol singing in the barn

Small but lovely is the family-friendly barn Christmas market on Saturday, December 13, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Altdorf, which the Zipperer family is organizing for the fourth time. There are pretty wooden items, handmade crochet work, paper folding and ceramic art, and glass decorations. And there’s plenty to eat and drink too: in addition to apple juice, walnuts, quince jelly, and fruit brandies, there’s pulled pork, red sausage, rose doughnuts, fresh yeast bread, and all kinds of hot drinks. A highlight is the communal Christmas carol singing at the end of the event. Date: Saturday, December 13, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Address: Hildrizhauser Straße 4, Altdorf

Like in a fairy tale: Advent magic around the castle

The old town center of Waldenbuch around the castle and St. Veit’s Church offers one of the most beautiful backdrops for a Christmas market. This year, there will even be a very special edition of the traditional Christmas market, which will take place on Saturday, December 13, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. To mark its 50th anniversary, the Christmas market will be bigger than ever. In addition to the old town, the market extends across the market square, the castle courtyard, and the Marktstraße and Auf dem Graben areas, giving visitors even more space to explore, linger, and enjoy. Many of the festively decorated booths are traditionally run by local clubs and businesses, giving the market its familiar and warm atmosphere. In addition to a carousel, a petting zoo, and a packed music program, there is also a photo station where you can have your picture taken with Santa Claus. Date: Saturday, December 13, 2–9 p.m.

Atmospheric Christmas market in the forest

No huge crowds, no loud music – instead, contemplation, communication, and the preservation of traditional values are the focus of this Christmas market: On Saturday, December 20, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday, December 21, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., there will be mulled wine, homemade treats, and other delicacies will be offered in the middle of the forest around the Weiler Hut. The organizers are hoping for snow to create the perfect atmosphere. The Christmas market around the Weiler Hütte is an ideal meeting place for people looking for a natural atmosphere.

Date: Saturday, December 20, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Address: Weiler Hütte, Tübinger Straße 100, 71093 Weil im Schönbuch
