Stuttgart Wine Village (Stuttgarter Weindorf)
August 28 - September 8
At the annual Stuttgart Wine Village (Stuttgarter Weindorf), more than 500 wines from Württemberg and Baden can be sampled in 125 tastefully decorated wine arbours. To accompany them, Stuttgart’s chefs serve local Swabian specialties such as “Maultaschen” (filled pasta squares), “Käsepätzle” (noodles with cheese) and “Schupfnudeln” (potato noodles) with sauerkraut, to name a few.
Around the end of August to the beginning of September, Stuttgart’s “Wine Village” opens its doors for a 12-day extravaganza of quality wines and culinary specialties of the Swabian region. Over the Market Square and Schillerplatz and all along Kirchstraße, wine and food lovers can make themselves comfortable and indulge in local specialties washed down by their favorite vintage.
Stuttgart’s history has always been closely tied to the winegrowing industry. It was back in 1976 that the Pro Stuttgart Tourist Board decided to launch the Stuttgarter Weindorf in honor of this long winegrowing tradition. This traditional festival is now considered one of the most attractive of the many “wine villages” staged in Germany each year.
Swabian hospitality, tempting culinary delights and different wines from the Baden and Württemberg regions attract huge numbers of visitors.
