Visitors to the “Bärenhöhle,” or Bear’s Cave, stalactite cave can dive into a captivating underground world and enjoy a magical light show during the “Illumination at the Bear’s Cave” event. Explore a realm of stalactites and stalagmites in a cave that developed millions of years ago at the Schwäbische Alb, or Swabian Alps. Cave bears, hyenas and wolves first populated the cave and it later served as burial place for the Celts. A bear skeleton is also displayed.
During the light show, the cave will transform into a magical fairy tale world where cave paintings on walls and ceilings from days long gone will come back to life.
Note that the “Nebelhöhle,” or Fog Cave, is located right next to the Bear’s Cave in Sonnenbühl and part of the “Höhlenwelten” at the Swabian Alb.
Tickets for children cost €3.50, adults pay €7.
Light shows will run only between Aug. 30 and Sept. 17 Wednesday to Sunday from 5-8 p.m. On Sept. 1, 8 and 15, light shows will run from 5-10 p.m.
