EUCOM presents info session about civilian PCS taxes

UPDATED Sept. 17: Reminder, the final session of the information session on PCS taxes takes place  Tuesday, Sept. 18, 9:30–10:30 a.m.

An information session on PCS taxes, hosted by U.S. European Command, will take place Sept. 18, 9:30–10:30 a.m., at the Patch Theater.

On Jan 1, the 2017 Public Law 115097 known as the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017″ took effect.  This law removed the tax exemption status for nearly all PCS entitlements for civilian employees. To inform EUCOM employees on this change as well as address questions/concerns, the EUCOM comptroller is presenting this information session. The session is open for civilians from other organizations to attend. The session includes information on the certain entitlements civilians may be able to use to be reimbursed substantially on all PCS income taxes.

Please note the session is geared towards U.S. government civilian employees and is not relevant to contractors. Active duty service members are exempt from PCS taxes. However, active duty selecting officials may find the information useful if they hire civilian employees.

DoD civilians are encouraged to attend this info session. Please note, the session presents information on the tax law changes, civilian entitlements and the process of claiming said entitlements; it should not be considered tax advice. Questions about your specific tax situation should be directed to the Stuttgart Tax Center at DSN 421-4152 or 0711-729-4152, or email usarmy.stuttgart.21-tsc.mbx.slcla@mail.mil.
